Answers from your own documents
A knowledge base in Definable is a drive of your team's files that agents can search: PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, Markdown, CSV, JSON and more, up to 10 MB each. Link it to an agent and the agent walks its folders, searches for the words in a question and reads the files that match.
How knowledge works
A knowledge base is a drive of your own files that agents can search. Link it to an agent and its answers can come from what your team already wrote.
At a glance
- PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, Markdown and more
- 10 MB per file
- 200 files per upload
- Images are stored, not read
- 01
Upload what you have
Drop in PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets, slides and Markdown files, in folders. Each file is read, indexed and given a one-line summary you can edit.
- 02
Agents search it like you would
The agent walks the folder tree and runs a full-text search for the words in the question, then reads the parts that match.
- 03
See what the agent sees
Every file opens three ways: the original, the raw text taken out of it, and the indexed outline an agent is handed.
- 04
Link it to any agent
Pick bases in an agent's Settings. New chats use them straight away, no republish needed.
Knowledge FAQ
How does an agent learn about my business?
Upload files to a knowledge base: PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, markdown, CSV, JSON and more, up to 10 MB each. The agent searches them by their words and walks the folders, reading the files a question needs. Scanned PDFs aren't read yet.
Where is my data stored?
Our servers run in Germany and stored files are kept in the US. A conversation also goes to the model provider its agent uses and the apps it calls.
See our subprocessorsDo you train AI models on my data?
No. We don't use your content to train or fine-tune AI models, ours or anyone else's. Calls on your own keys follow your agreement with that provider.
